These Crispy Baked Honey BBQ Wings are easy to make and perfect for game day!
Crispy Baked Honey BBQ Wings
Hi friends! Today I’m excited to not only bring you an easy and delicious Crispy Baked Honey BBQ Wings recipe, but remember, each month on the 12th, 11 of my bloggy friends and I are bringing you a delicious and easy recipe, with a theme! And the theme this month is 12 Game Day Wing Recipes!
Are you a big wings fan? I have a confession – typically I only go “boneless” and have NEVER made them at home. SAY WHAT?! I guess because I wasn’t the hugest fan, it never occurred to me to make my own wings. But they are TOP on my husband’s list of favorite foods so when the gals said they wanted a wings-themed month I thought, better late than never and set out to find an easy starter recipe.

- 1 ⁄2 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 ⁄2 teaspoon black pepper
- Cooking spray
For sauce:
- 1 cup barbecue sauce
- 1 ⁄2 cup honey
- 2 tablespoons hot sauce

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
-
In a small bowl, mix together flour, salt, garlic powder, chili powder and black pepper.

Wash, dry, and dip the wings into the flour mixture until coated.

Cover a cookie sheet with foil and spray with a generous spray of cooking spray.

Cook for 35-40 minutes, depending on the size of the wings, turning once.

Where did you find such small sized wings? They look perfect but the wings I got at my local store look way bigger. I’m worried about the outcome.
Kimberly Sneed says
Hi Zoe, these are just from my local grocer…I don’t think the size will matter since everything just goes on the outside of the wing, you’ll just have meatier wings! 😉
Taryn says
Cooking these right now! 🙂

Awesome, Taryn! Let us know what you think! 😉

Hi Stacy, good point! Yes, I would be sure that they are thawed first.

umm… YUM! Best wing my husband and I have ever had! After I put them in the oven I noticed the skin got a little soggy for me, so I put them on broil for about 2 minutes each side! Perfect!!!

Hi Kimberly,
I made these wings last week, and I’m making them again tonight. We 3, left nothing but the bones. Thank you very much for this recipe. I saved it for future reference. I have made other recipes from different sites, etc but usually very disappointed and upset that I had to waste time & money.
So needless to say I love them!! Thank you again.
Vicky P.

I made these wings last night and they were SOOO GOOD. I left some wings plain and then put the rest in Sweet Baby Ray’s honey bbq sauce. The recipe was on point: crispy, flavorful and quite delicious!! Definitely my new go to wing recipe.
Kimberly Sneed says
So happy to hear that, Leslie!
Taylor S says
I used 1/4 cup of honey instead of 1/2 cup and added a little extra BBQ sauce. I also threw in some cayenne pepper (we love spicy in our household!) I broiled them for a few minutes toward the end and they were great!!!! It was a very simple recipe and I definitely will be using it again! Thank you!
Kimberly Sneed says
What GREAT updates, Taylor! I love the idea of the cayenne, I’ll have to try that!
Hannah D. Hall says

I just made these and they were great! Madea few changes with the seasonings since i don’t eat spicy food, and i named for 45 min (turning once) then another 5 min South sauce…1st time making honey bbq wings but definitely not the last!
Kimberly Sneed says
So happy to hear that, Ki!
Claudia Romero says
Hello, Kimberly.
What brand of BBQ sause, honey, and hot sauce did you used?
Kimberly Sneed says
Hi Claudia! Oh it’s been a little while, but we typically have Stubbs BBQ and I’m guessing I used Red Devil Hot Sauce. Hope that helps!
Cathy Gunther says
I too have never made wings but wanted to give them a try and found your recipe. They turned out awesome! Better than any carry out wings we have gotten. I will definitely be making them again! Thank you for sharing!
Allison says
I am new to making wings and I have what might be a silly question. The pictures look like they’re drumsticks not wings. Which one are they?
Kimberly Sneed says
Hi Allison, while they may look similar they are in fact “party wings!” You can find them at your local grocer. They are smaller than typical drumsticks. Hope that helps!
Malisa says
These are absolutely amazing!!! We have made them about 3 times so far, and they are still as good as the first time. This is a perfect game day recipe, and they best part is that they are baked wings! Love it!! And the sauce…yum!!! It is so delicious!!
Nacole says
These wings were perfect! Despite my best efforts, i had never been able to achieve crispy baked chicken…but this is it! This is definitely going to be my go-to recipe for wings going forward! Delicious! Addictive! But soo easy!

I tried this tonight and the family absolutely loved them. They were all gone in 10 mins. The only difference I did was added a little cayenne and crushed red peppers and broil last 5 mins. Best I ever made thanks

I don’t like spicy foods. Wondering how good the sauce would be without adding the hot sauce.
Kimberly Sneed says
Hi Cindy, I think it would be just fine without the hot sauce!
