Best Drinks on a Carnival Cruise
Hi friends! As you may have read, this summer my husband and I embarked on a Mexican Riviera Cruise with Carnival Cruise Line to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Since we hit this awesome milestone we knew we wanted to do more than just a nice dinner out to celebrate, and let me tell you a cruise was just the ticket! There is just something special about taking a cruise. I love that there is no fuss once you’re on the ship; you just sit back and relax while others take care of you and make the best food and drinks! And since fruity drinks are just one of my specialties, and I did a ton of “research” before boarding our Carnival Cruise, I figured I should share my TOP TEN Carnival Drinks that you should order on any Carnival Cruise!
Top Ten Carnival Cruise Drinks
Now this is not an exhaustive list of all you can order on your Carnival Cruise. Many ships have specialty bars (like the Alchemy Bar and you can order anything from draft beers to your favorite martini). For this list I’m primarily focusing on the fancy, fruity drinks that are perfect for the casual cocktail drinker. You know, with the fruit and umbrella garnish kind of drinks. So let’s take a look…
1. Drink of the Day
2. The Fun Ship Cocktail
When you’re getting ready to set sail, the bars will likely be serving the Fun Ship Cocktail as the drink of the day! Made with Vodka, Rum, Amaretto, Pineapple Juice, Orange Juice, Lime Juice and Apricot Brandy, you’re sure to get your kicks with this fruity punch while you embark on your cruising adventure!
3. Miami Vice
Half Pina Colada and half Strawberry Daiquiri combines for one amazing drink! This is probably my favorite drink to order and enjoy on the ship. Or maybe a close second to a classic Pina Colada. I can’t decide, let’s order both!
4. Kiss on the Lips
Now if you’re familiar with Carnival Cruises at all, for SURE you’ve had an encounter with the Kiss on the Lips Cocktail. Made with mango puree with Peach Schnapps and a splash of grenadine, it’s sweet but tasty!
5. Pirate Punch
This swashbuckling cocktail is made with Bacardi Rum, Bacardi 8, Disaronno Amaretto, cranberry, pineapple and orange juice. It packs a punch but a tasty one at that! Be sure to grab one when it’s the drink of the day!
6. Piña Colada
If you like piña coladas…this tropical classic is made with Bacardi Rum. There’s not much to say except that Carnival does them right and I may have enjoyed one or two on our cruise. They’re my favorite!
7. Mai Tai
A tropical tradition that blends Bacardi Rum, Bacardi 8 Rum, Orange Curaçao, orgeat syrup and limes. This island classic reminds me of being on the beaches of Hawaii, and perfect for your cruise!
8. Bloody Mary
There’s nothing like a little Bloody Mary to wake you up in the morning! Great to order and sit out on the deck, you can also sample the Bloody Mary bar (made to order) during Seaday Brunch! Don’t leave the ship without customizing the best Bloody Mary ever.
9. Local Beer Selection
Not a fruity drink fan? There are plenty of draft beers AND a good selection of bottles and cans to choose from! Our cruise had this IPA from Angel City Brewery, an LA-based craft brewery located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles. Ask your bartender what’s available and try something new!
10. Spiked Coffee
Sometimes you want a little caffeine with your cocktail! I took advantage of the coffee bar who was happy to add a little chocolate liquor to your favorite brew. Delicious!
Carnival Cruise Drink Package
So you may ask, did we order the Carnival Cruise Drink Package? For this cruise, we did not but in hindsight we may the next time around. We were sure that we wouldn’t buy enough drinks to warrant the $51.95 per person per day charge; but we didn’t take into account all of the other perks of the program. Not only can you get cocktails, but the Cheers! package allows you to get sodas, juices, smoothies, specialty coffee, milkshakes, energy drinks, sports drinks AND bottled water. I don’t know about you, but I’m a bit of a drink fiend. Our refrigerator at home is constantly half filled with things to drink (move over, food!) so I think next time around we might just opt for this package. It’s so much more than cocktails!
Carnival Cruise Drink Prices
If you’re not going to get the drink package, you might wonder just how much drinks cost on a Carnival Cruise. I want to say that most of my “fruity” drinks were $6-$10, depending on the drink. Be sure to check the Fun Times everyday for the Drink of the Day, which will be discounted. They’re always tasty choices! Beer you can generally get for $4-$6 per bottle, you might want to opt for pails if you’re planning to drink a few or share.
