Hi friends! Today I’m excited to not only bring you an easy and delicious Banana Cream Pie Smoothie recipe, but remember, each month on the 12th, 11 of my bloggy friends and I are bringing you a delicious and easy recipe, with a theme! And the theme this month is Fruit Smoothie Recipes, perfect for breakfast or for that sweet afternoon snack!

I love smoothies for breakfast, especially good fruit smoothies. I learned a key to a good, creamy smoothie a few years ago when I happened upon a blog that suggested using cottage cheese in your smoothie instead of yogurt. I know, I know – at first I thought the idea sounded strange, but ever since I tried it I have NEVER looked back. I’m serious, I’ll never use yogurt in a smoothie again! I promise that you won’t taste the cottage cheese in the smoothie but blended up it gives you an amazing creamy consistency and just think of all those protein benefits! Perfect for your morning routine.

So now that I’ve convinced you to try the cottage cheese – I have, right?! How about the rest of this delicious Banana Cream Pie Smoothie. Along with a 1/3 cup of cottage cheese I added a large and ripe banana (of course), 1/3 cup of milk (your preference), a packet of stevia (which is totally optional, it would be tasty without too), 1 tsp of good vanilla extract (channeling my inner Ina), and a cup of ice. Now since this is a “pie” smoothie, I also tossed in some graham crackers to give a little crust flavoring in there. If you don’t have the graham crackers it will still be delish – but I thought the added flavor profile was fun!

Ingredients
  • One ripe banana, quartered
  • ⅓ cup lowfat cottage cheese
  • ⅓ cup lowfat milk
  • 1 packet sweetner (optional)
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup ice
  • Graham crackers
Instructions
  1. Add all of your ingredients to a blender and blend until smooth.
  2. Pour into glass and enjoy!
