Pools and Popsicles Party

Hi friends! Sum-sum-summertime is here! Have your kiddos had their last day of school? Ours are OUT and I wanted a fun way to kick of summer break and what better way than a PAR-TAY! Last year a good friend of ours hosted a Pools and Popsicles Party for her daughter’s birthday and I thought that was such a fun theme that we did a play off the same thing for the boys! To get the party started, I headed down to my local Michaels to pick up party supplies.

From paper crafts, party goods and baking supplies to new outdoor lighting, glass and floral, Michaels is your DIY destination for all of your summer celebrations. In our case I did pick up a few paper fans for decor but a bulk of our party supplies I picked up in their summer fun aisle! We’re talking bright, colorful tubs, sand pails, bubbles, water guns, boogie boards, and of course beach balls! Lots and lots of beach balls. You name it – we got it.

The boys literally squealed when I showed them the haul. Everything that a kiddo could want to play with in a pool we had it. Perfect for tons of fun in the sun! Now that we had everything for the pool party – we just needed to add POPSICLES to make our Pools and Popsicles Party complete. I grabbed a bag of frozen pops – they’re super easy to eat on a hot summer day, much less mess than a standard popsicle. I filled a large sand pail with ice and popped the popsicles right in!

Don’t they just OOZE summer? These images just make me happy. Oh, and the popsicles made the boys happy too…

So now we have party supplies, popsicles – now time for the pools! We actually had multiple pools for the boys to play in, one for our older two and one for the baby – a little splash pad for him, but he wasn’t in the mood to play come party time.

It’s ok – he can just sit there and look adorable in those pineapple sunglasses! Haha. But for the boys we inflated a fun family-sized pool and filled it for a fun afternoon out! And with their buckets of Michaels fun in the sun they were ready to go!

It was such a fun afternoon out – our Pools and Popsicles Party was a hit! We’ll definitely do more of these this summer. Such a fun and easy little celebration to pull together.
