Nursery Organization Ideas

Hi friends! Can you believe it is 2016?! Time for a new start, right? I love New Years because while I never make formal “resolutions”, I do think it’s a great time to get a fresh start and maybe even finish those projects that you said you’d complete the year before – like organization. Or the nursery? Well today the Michaels Makers are going to show you a ton of fresh organization ideas to kick off what I’m sure will be an amazing year! And we’re starting with these Easy Nursery Organization Ideas!

But 2015 brought some changes our way – including the birth of our newest little guy Adrian. So I swapped out my organized craft room for a precious nursery! And after a few years off of baby mode, our little guy has been such a joyous addition to our family. The boys are thoroughly enjoying having a new little brother at home and we’re getting in plenty of baby snuggles.

But I’m sure as many of you know, a few children in you don’t quite complete things with the same sense of urgency before the baby arrives. Like the nursery. We have all the furniture and even the trimmings, but the room has slowly come together and took a major pause once the baby arrived. Now 2 months in and we’re settling into a routine, we’re heading back into the nursery to finish it off. So what better time than to get all his new stuff organized and ready? So we headed down to our local Michaels to take advantage of their awesome line of organization bins and baskets…

Seriously the selection was like a dream! Now if you like full on color – don’t worry they have that too! But for our little boy’s nursery we’ve stuck to a bit of an urban industrial theme – all grays, galvanized steel and wood tones. I love the feel of the room – we’ve added in drapes and a fuzzy rug to give it a bit of baby softness. For organization, baskets and bins are where it’s at! We grabbed these cute burlap baskets that are perfect for holding baby blankets, extra diapers and so much more! What’s better is they’re perfectly stylish and look great out in the open. AND as a bonus, they can transition to different rooms or be repurposed easily.

Next up, when I saw these wooden chalkboard boxes, I knew they would be perfect to corral our growing collection of baby books that we can store neatly the side table next to the rocker. This allows for easy access and it looks adorable too! They also work great to corral stuffed animals and more!

Next up, I am IN LOVE with this oversized wire bin with copper handles. This can be used for anything from storing blankets to toys – but for now we’re using it as the cutest little hamper for sweet baby boy clothes. I love that the handles make it easy to grab and take to the laundry room too!

Next up, these baskets and bins helped me take one of my favorite nursery organization aspects to the next level! I love our white metal cart that sits next to the dresser and changing table in the room, but since the bin area is shallow, we really needed to add some baskets in order to maximize the storage area.

On top we added a basket to hold diapers so they’re right at hand while changing, while the metal bins below hold receiving blankets and extra wipes. It’s so nice to have these things readily available!

You can even use Michaels great selection of baskets in drawers to make organization easier! I grabbed shallow baskets that are making our top drawer much less of a mess. They’re great for corralling baby socks, hats, lovies and more!
