Gift Idea: Hot Cocoa Bar in a Box

Hi friends! It’s the happiest time of the year, right? That is if you can keep your wits about you! I’m excited to bring you yet another Michaels Makers project today and we’re all talking GIFTS! If you’re anything like me you like to add a little DIY touch to your Christmas gifts. So today I’m sharing a Hot Cocoa Bar in a Box Gift Idea that is what I think the perfect combination of homemade and fabulous!

It all starts with the Homemade Hot Cocoa Mix! That’s the goodness and the special, personal touch. Head over and snag the recipe we posted this morning so you can whip up your own batch for this gift and more! Then get down to Michaels for the rest of your Hot Cocoa Bar in a Box!

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Decorative basket
• 4 Mason Jar Mugs
• Holiday plaid ribbon
• Hot cocoa toppings (crushed candy canes, marshmallows, mini M&Ms)
• Basket filler
• Chalkboard tag

And to put together:

I simply filled our mugs with hot cocoa mix and hot cocoa toppings…

What is GREAT about these mason jars is that when you empty the toppings, they also make the perfect drinking mugs!

Mmmm…anyone else just want to gobble down that whole jar of M&Ms? 

Then once your jars are full of yummy mix and toppings, add your lids! Then line the bottom of your basket with a little filler in coordinating colors and arrange your hot cocoa jars!

And now you have a little Hot Cocoa Bar in a Box – all nestled in yummy goodness!

I went with a plain square box on purpose, because I found this FABULOUS plaid ribbon at Michaels that I wanted to OVERuse! I wrapped the basket with the ribbon and tacked down with a little hot glue. Then I tied more ribbon around the box and attached a chalkboard plaque appropriately labeling the box “Hot Cocoa!”

And you’re done! In less than an hour you have the CUTEST semi-homemade Hot Cocoa Bar in a Box gift that you can be proud to give and you KNOW your friends will love to receive!
