Hi friends! First off, if you’re visiting us from Uncommon Designs, let me just say welcome! So glad you’re here! Today I’m finally sharing a little more of our Easter decor this year – our dining room tablescape! Last year our Easter decor was based off of a bright and cheery palette by Design Seeds, but this year I wanted our decor to be much like our Christmas decor: neutral and natural colors with a lot of texture. I started out with an oversized metal basket that I found at Hobby Lobby (hello 50% off). It was dark and distressed and quite beautiful, but I knew that against our dark cherry table that it would just get lost. So out came the white spray paint!
Then the basket still felt a little empty in the center, so I placed it on top of a very rustic frame that I recently picked up at Goodwill for just $2.99. I’ve been meaning to build a square box for the center of our dining room table to “frame in” centerpiece decor for the longest time, so this helped to take the place of that item on my to-do list for now.
I filled the basket with a good amount of natural grass. I also purchased large paper mache eggs on my Hobby Lobby trip, and spray painted them with Krylon Pistachio (a great minty-fresh color) that I had leftover from last year’s Easter Topiary makeover. Once those dried they were a little too bright and shiny for my taste so I applied a little tan acrylic paint over top with a few speckles from a paintbrush and then applied like a glaze with a wet cloth. Just the look I was going for.
Then for the place settings, I placed our lovely World Market Nantucket plates on some natural IKEA placemats, and slipped our flatware into some adorable burlap sacks with a neutral, silk cloth napkin.
All in all I’m happy with how it turned out! It’s simple and natural, but with the large basket still has a hint of Easter goodness. What do you think? If you’re looking for more Easter Tablescape inspiration be sure to head over to Uncommon Designs! Love the natural textures and can change up what you’ve done for any holiday or season. Great job, you knew that right? Yeah, everything is so great, hard for me to say which got my attention most. I sure love that metal basket, the white does it much more justice than the dark. Happy Days
