Hi friends! We’re back today with ANOTHER adorable Valentine’s Day project with Martha Stewart Crafts! If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen that I headed downtown last weekend for a little Valentine’s photo shoot with my favorite Phoenix photographer – Stacey of Dream Photography Studio. First, we shared with you the Glitter Vintage Soda Bottles we created for the shoot and today I’m sharing another fun and EASY Valentine’s Day craft: Chalkboard Conversation Hearts! I found these darling wooden hearts at my favorite craft store Michaels and knew just what I wanted to do with them!
What you’ll need:
- Wooden hearts
- Martha Stewart Crafts Chalkboard Paints (now in multiple colors!)
- Paintbrush
- Chalk/chalk pen
And the steps:
- Simply paint your wooden hearts with MS Chalkboard Paint – I did one heart in black and one in gray.
- Let dry, painting additional coats if needed – waiting an hour in between.
- Once you’ve achieved desired coverage, let cure for 24 hours.
- After 24 hours, season your chalkboard hearts with chalk and write a sweet message.
And voila! Chalkboard Conversation Hearts! The end results are adorable, don’t you think? Perfect Valentine’s Day decor, gifts or props!
Of course we used them as props for our Valentine’s Day photo shoot…

SUPER sweet, don’t you think? The kiddos had a kick of playing with their Chalkboard Conversation Hearts – and yours will too! You could make some for the kids to decorate with a sweet message each day or create Valentine’s Day art! The ideas are endless with MS Crafts Chalkboard paint! I use that stuff on everything… And there you have it! Our second Valentine’s Day project this year. If you haven’t had a chance already, be sure to check out our first project, these beautiful Glitter Vintage Soda Bottles!
Now go pick up your MS Crafts supplies and start on your Valentine’s decor! I’d love to see what YOU create!
Thank you to the editors of Martha Stewart Living for sponsoring this post as part of the #12MonthsofMartha program! I received product in exchange for this project; however, all opinions are my own.

These chalkboard hearts are adorable and I love the idea of using them as a photo prop. I just posted a Valentine chalkboard roundup and included them. I hope you can stop by and check it out. I have attached a link to the post.
