Hi friends! I’m SO EXCITED to share the news – this year I will be part of the Michaels Makers team! I have really enjoyed working with Michaels (hands down my favorite craft store) over this past year and can’t wait to collaborate on new and exciting projects to bring to you each month! And today we’re kicking things off with an easy but crazy cute craft – these Red & White Painted Bushel Baskets!
Now you know I’m all about the patriotic projects lately – from our Patriotic Party Ideas to our Painted Burlap Patriotic Place Settings we are going to have one amazing 4th of July par-tay! But when I stumbled across these painted bushel baskets in Michaels Online Project Center, I knew I HAD to make them. Had to. What a perfect addition to my patriotic projects that I’m sure could be re-purposed throughout the year. And that’s key, right? I create a ton of crafty projects so I have to make sure what I create can be used, preferably over and over again! And from decor to parties, I knew these adorable baskets would get plenty of use.
So I headed down to my local Michaels – wait, NOPE – I ordered everything I needed ONLINE! That’s RIGHT! Did you know that you can NOW shop Michaels Online?! You can now purchase all of your favorite arts and crafts supplies on any computer, tablet or smartphone. They offer project ideas (like this one!) and one-click shopping lists for projects all in one place – so you don’t have to search the site for various supplies.
You can also check out what’s trending on Michaels Pinterest page by scrolling and shopping through the “Favorite Pins” section. The best part? Free shipping on orders over $50!! Now I KNOW I could take advantage of that free shipping – how about you? So I ordered everything I needed for this project and once it arrived, got to work!
What you’ll need:
- Ashland™ Chipwood Bushel Basket With Handle
- Martha Stewart Crafts® Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Craft Paint
- ArtMinds™ Foam Brush Set, 3 Pc
- Back To Basics™ Paisley Bandana
- ArtMinds® Country Basswood Plate
And the steps:
- Paint the vertical panels on the bushel baskets, alternating with red and white. Let dry.
- Line the inside of the basket with a clean bandanna and fill with popcorn (or other tasty treat).
- Turn the other basket upside down and place a wooden charger plate on top to display pie or other desserts.
And the result? The CUTEST little baskets you ever did see, right?
You can line the baskets with a bandanna and fill with popcorn, chips and more! OR flip them over, top with a charger or plate and favorite desserts!
SO very cute and versatile! I can’t wait to use these little guys again! Want to make your own! Find the project online (Find a Project > Holiday & Seasonal > Summer) and “Add All to Cart!” It’s that easy.
I can’t wait to see what kind of projects you find and create with Michaels Online! Check out MORE inspirational projects here:
