These Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies are a family favorite – a classic chocolate chip cookie with a hint of delicious oatmeal! This post is in partnership with and sponsored by The Great American Milk Drive; all opinions are my own.
Hi friends! There’s nothing quite like baking during the holidays. I grew up in a home where there were always plenty of goodies and the smell of cookies in the oven during this time of year. Such great memories. But did you know that something as sweet and simple as milk and cookies is beyond the reach of families throughout the country? That’s why this season we’re teaming up with The Great American Milk Drive!
Milk is one of the most-requested, yet least-donated food bank items. On average, families receive the equivalent of less than 1 gallon per person per year, really limiting children’s access to the essential nutrients milk provides. While most think of donations as non-perishable items, there IS A WAY for you to donate milk! In partnership with Feeding America — the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization — The Great American Milk Drive turns your online donations into gallons of milk for families in your local community! So with the help of my kids this month we held a Bake Sale & Share to raise funds.
For the bake sale we whipped up a family favorite – these Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies. They’re so versatile, some of us like them with no chocolate, with chocolate chips or even with some mini M&Ms! Any which way you make them, they’re sure to be a hit. Here’s the recipe we used, that will make PLENTY of cookies for your Bake Sale & Share!
Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies
- 2 cups butter
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 cups brown sugar
- 4 eggs
- 2 tsp. vanilla
- 1 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. baking powder
- 1 tsp. soda
- 4 cups flour
- 5 cups oatmeal
- 24 oz. semi-sweet chocolate chips
Cream together butter and both sugars in a mixing bowl.
Add in eggs and vanilla and combine.
Mix together with flour, oatmeal, salt, baking powder & soda.
Add chocolate chips and stir.
Roll into balls (or use cookie dough scoop) and place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.
So perhaps you’d like to know how YOU CAN GIVE. Whether you hold your own Bake Sale & Share or just want to share what you have this holiday season, you can make donations on the A Night Owl Milk Drive Team Page!
What better gift this year than to give to those who are truly in need. Something just as simple as some milk and cookies. We invite you to join in giving with us with the Holiday Give Together by hosting your own Bake Sale & Share or simply making a donation and sharing our Milk Drive Page with your family and friends!
But that’s not all! In celebration of The Great American Milk Drive today we’re giving away a FUN Instax Photo Prize Pack! Including a Instant Film Camera, Magnetic Picture Collage for Refrigerator and a Cow Pattern Photo Album! Enter to WIN via the Rafflecopter form below.

I’ve never heard of The Great American Milk Drive but I love the idea that you can get milk to families that need it/ could benefit from it. This oatmeal chocolate cookie recipe is one I want to try. I like that it doesn’t call for cinnamon because it seems like so many do.
These cookies look amazing! I’m definitely going to be trying these over Christmas break!
