Hi friends! Now you know that I am a huge fan of all things Martha and that I also have a bit of a magazine fixation, and one of my very favorites is Martha Stewart Living! One of the things I love the most about the magazine is fresh inspiration – inspiration that informs and transforms the way that I look at things, how I interject creativity into our lives. At times it widens my world view, and the July/August 2013 issue is no exception.
In the current issue of Martha Stewart Living on newsstands now, there is an amazing and beautiful article on Heather Chontos titled Homemade on the Range. Heather is a talented set design artist who relocated to the rustic mountains of Montana. In the piece, Heather shares how the landscape, the mountains, rivers, pastures and skies – inform her crafts. Now living in a mostly suburban area, I found the article and breathtaking pictures so very inspiring.
Heather says, “I love the contrast of rough and rustic against something brighter and newer.” And I love how this contrast makes its way into her creations. For a small dinner event, she creates paint dipped utensils and decor…

The colors are bright and captivating – and so very inspiring. And though we’re surrounded by buildings and cars and city-living, I can instantly see how to incorporate these rustic meets modern elements into our home and decor.

And though we don’t have the gorgeous Montana backdrop, so very many of Heather’s tips for setting the table, the menu and the scene for a small gathering can be incorporated no matter where you live! And the result is so very natural – so very stunning!

So are you feeling inspired? I know I am. Fresh, new inspiration. I want to jump right into the pictures. I want to paint – create – make things beautiful. And that’s what I find, every single month in each issue of Martha Stewart Living! If you value creativity, or just enjoy a bit of beautiful relaxation (who doesn’t need a little “me” time) – this magazine is for you. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!
