How to host a Bake Sale & Share to raise funds for the The Great American Milk Drive. This post is in partnership with and sponsored by The Great American Milk Drive; all opinions are my own.
Hi friends! It’s such a great time of year to do what you can to give back to your community. And today, we’re so excited to tell you about a GREAT way you can do just this, with the Holiday Give Together in support of The Great American Milk Drive!
Did you know that more than 46 million Americans — including 12 million children — rely on Feeding America food bank donations each year? Milk is one of the most-requested, yet least-donated items. However, on average, clients receive the equivalent of less than 1 gallon per person per year, really limiting childrens’ access to milk’s essential nutrients. That’s because while Americans are generous with canned and dry goods, many don’t think to donate milk because it’s perishable. But there is a solution! In partnership with Feeding America — the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization — The Great American Milk Drive turns your online donations into gallons of milk for families in your local community! We were eager to donate, but to get the kids involved too we set up a Bake Sale & Share!
To host a Bake Sale & Share, you simply bake up some goodies, sell them and give all the proceeds – in this case to The Great American Milk Drive! I explained to my boys that there are families in our community who could not afford to buy milk for their cookies and that we were going to bake up some cookies to sell so that we could donate some milk! They were excited and onboard!
There are things you learn about your kids when you experience new things – like how excited they are to give, which is great since we’ve been so blessed this year. It feels great to give back and something I want to instill in our children. But I also learned what a little salesman my middle kiddo is! I mean, he was flagging down those cars left and right!
At the end of our Bake Sale & Share, we enjoyed some cookies and milk to celebrate and my kiddo asked when we could do another bake sale. We also counted up the money in our change jar so we could keep track of how much we could donate. After our next sale we’ll tally up the total donations and submit it to our A Night Owl Milk Drive Team Page!
This season we can make a difference in the lives of those in need – so join us and help us give some milk and cookies!
