Hi friends! If you FOLLOW ME ON INSTAGRAM you may remember that I visited Magnolia Market earlier this year with my mother. We wrote up a whole GUIDE AROUND VISITING THE SILOS but just one of the tips that we have on that guide is visiting the Silos Baking Co., which honestly can use a whole guide itself – from tips on crowds, the menu, what to order and more! So here we go, let’s talk about the sweet treats you can only get at the Silos Baking Co. in Waco, TX.

Silos Baking Co. Tips
Go mid-morning.
So as you may have read already, we took a weekend trip to Waco so we visited the Silos on a Saturday, which is their busiest day of the week. We started out our morning at Magnolia Table then headed to Magnolia Market at the Silos for their opening at 9am. What I would recommend is that you do what we did.
9am is the slowest the actual Market will be, so I suggest you take a tour through the market FIRST and take in all of the sites and decor and start thinking about what you want to buy. After your first run through of the market, head over to get in line at the Silos Baking Co. Yes, there will be a line but since at this point it’s mid morning, you won’t have the “around the silos” line of first opening (Silos Baking Co. is open from 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday), but since it’s still early you should still get to pick from all of the goodies.

You’ll order in line.
That’s right! While you’re in line a worker will come up to you and hand you a paper menu card and little pencil for you to fill out while you’re in line.
The line moves quickly.
No matter how long the line, rest assured that it actually goes by pretty quickly! They really have the process down; you check off your order in line; once you get to the cash register they take your order card (there really is minimal back and forth), you pay, the crew of workers behind the counter package up your order, you maybe stand there for 3 minutes then they call out for your order for pick up.
Research flavors before-hand.
Ok, sometimes the line moves too quickly. So honestly I think it’s best to look at sites and tips like ours to see what you might have a taste for beforehand. Go into it knowing what you MUST try, what you want to take home, then take a look at seasonal offerings etc. that you might want to add to your order.
Take in your surroundings.
If you want a drink, grab it right when you first enter the building. Again the line moves fast so it’s best to have an idea of what’s going on first. There are a few shop items that are particular to the Silos Baking Co. that you’ll find inside, so if you want something be sure to grab it quickly! There is also a quaint little bathroom inside if you need to stop.
Enjoy cupcakes on the patio.
Honestly this area can get quite busy during the day so I would suggest that if you’re in a group that you have someone do the ordering and someone else scouting open seating. That’s what we did and my mom grabbed a spot for us to sit and enjoy while I went through the line.
Take some to go.
So unless you have die hard Fixer Upper fans at home (and why would they be at home if you’re there?!), chances are they would rather have a delicious cupcake rather than a “demo day” hat or Magnolia magnet, right? Maybe I’m wrong, but for most of the folks back home we ordered a few extra cupcakes and cookies to take back as a treat. Silos Baking Co. does a great job at packaging up the goodies and we just carried them onto our flight on the way home to keep them safe.
What to order.
Our last tip is a long one…what to order. We’re sharing some of our favorites, so let’s break down the best things to order at the Silos Baking Co!
BEST THINGS TO EAT AT Silos baking co.
Honestly, I doubt you can really go wrong with any treat at Silos Baking Co. I would say take a look at what peaks you can get at the menu (like in the images we showed here) and go with your gut in terms of what you really enjoy. Chocolate lover? Get the Chocolatier. Love the simplicity of Vanilla? The Shiplap is for you. Like to shake things up? Try any of the fun seasonal treats.
THE MAGNOLIA TABLE MENU
Silos Baking Co. has pastries and breads, but the primary focus of their menu are their Cupcakes and Cookies…and for good reason. They’re amazing! Here are some of our favorites…
Lemon Lavender Cupcake
Lemon & lavender vanilla cake + lemon buttercream icing. If there is ONLY ONE cupcake you can order from the Silos Baking Co., make it the Lemon Lavender. OH MY. The lemon is not too sweet, the frosting is soft and pillow-y, and it’s the only cupcake we devoured in 2.5 seconds (after we took pictures of course). Probably the best cupcake I’ve ever had.
The Shiplap Cupcake
Vanilla cake + vanilla buttercream icing. This was another one I was excited to try, why? Because I thing sometimes the true test of a bakery is how well it does vanilla. And Silos Baking Co. passes the test. This cupcake is pure simplicity, done really, really well.
Silobration Cupcake
Vanilla cake + chocolate buttercream icing with sprinkles. It was between this one and The Chocolatier for me, the only difference being the Chocolatier is chocolate cake. I think that one would have been just as delicious, but there was something about those cute little sprinkles that won me over.
Seasonal Cupcakes
I love trying new things so we also tried one of their seasonal cupcakes, the Campfire Cupcake! Chocolate cake with chocolate chips on a graham cracker crust and topped with vanilla buttercream and a toasted marshmallow. I would definitely try another seasonal option, they’re so fun!
Gluten Free Options
Have a gluten free friend in your life? There are a few options for them as well. We snagged this Vanilla Bean Shortbread Cookie, there is also an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Oatmeal. Note that they are not nut-allergy friendly.
Nutty Cinnamon Roll
If you don’t get a chance to dine at Magnolia Table, and maybe you missed breakfast all together, then this Nutty Cinnamon Roll is your go-to! Big enough to share, it’s a whole lot of crunchy, sweet and nutty goodness in one pastry.

What to Skip
The Classic Chocolate Chip. Now it’s pretty, but I found it to be a bit underwhelming and dry. I would skip this one unless it’s for the picky eater who only wants a classic cookie.
