Hi friends! Today I’m sharing a cause that I am sure is near and dear to many of you: the battle against breast cancer. I just shared my connection with the cause a couple of weeks ago with my friend Laura at Pink Cake Plate, and I’m so happy to also be sharing with you all as well! I would have to say my main connection to the fight against breast cancer is my good friend Alison. I’ve worked with Alison over 5 years now, and she’s one of the most positive and enjoyable ladies I’ve ever met. And each year, come 3-Day walk fundraising and training time, she decks out her work space and her wardrobe in PINK! This is to remind folks that she’s made a commitment each year to raise the funds to walk, to find a cure for breast cancer. This will be Alison’s 9th year participating in the walk. You see, Alison has lost both her sister-in-law, Tammy, and her cousin, Karen Smith, to the disease. She is passionate about the cause and is proud to be able to contribute in some small way. And the passion is courageous and contagious!
When I attended Bloggy Boot Camp just over a week ago in Las Vegas, our morning session was sponsored by Ford Warriors in Pink. The Ford Warriors in Pink campaign is designed to recognize the strength and courage it takes to deal with the everyday challenges of fighting breast cancer from prevention, to research to support during treatment. When you buy Ford Warriors in Pink apparel at fordcares.com, 100 percent of the net proceeds go directly to support breast cancer awareness all year long. And the apparel is fabulous! I mean, who wouldn’t want to add this Circle of Hope Scarf to their wardrobe? It’s just stunning.
This October, Ford Warriors in Pink® has launched its first ever produced documentary, “Bang the Drum: Living Out Loud in the Face of Breast Cancer.” The film honors 11 men and women breast cancer survivors who have demonstrated strength and courage in their battle with its “Models of Courage” program. 2012 marks Ford Motor Company’s 18th year of support for the breast cancer cause. In that time, Ford has dedicated more than $115 million to the breast cancer cause. And during our morning session we got a chance to watch the video. And if you have a few minutes, I encourage you to watch it as well, and hear these survivors’ stories…
You too can get involved in this tremendously worthy program! When you buy Ford Warriors in Pink apparel at fordcares.com, 100 percent of the net proceeds go directly to support breast cancer awareness all year long.
Have you been affected by breast cancer or know someone who has? Share your story in the comments below! Would love to hear them.
