Hi friends! Earlier this week we shared this Day of the Dead Skull Pinata from a recent kids party we threw! Today I’m sharing the rest of the Day of the Dead Party Ideas! In addition to the pinata, we made cute modern utensil holders and an easy papel picada, thanks to our handy Silhouette!
There isn’t much of a tutorial around these easy projects, but I do want to share what we used and how you can make the same! We started with cardstock in bright colors. For the papel picado, we traced the complex papel picado design we found on silhouette for the outside shape. We wanted really simple! Then we also used the outside of the dia de los muertos sugar skull to cut out of the middle.

We added a couple of holes to each corner and strung bakers twine right on through for a cute and simple papel picado! The Silhouette did all the hard work…
After making the papel picado, we had lots of colorful skulls leftover! I’m a fan of reusing things, so we glued those babies right onto cute striped paper bags to hold our utensils! We also added a strip of fringed paper inside to give the utensil holders a little more color. Just a piece of paper and fringe scissors (which I LOVE) do the trick!
So super cute, right? They were perfect additions to our party…
