Best Things to Eat and Drink at Downtown Disney District
Hi friends! We’re making our way around Disneyland Resort, sharing all of our favorite things to eat and drink in each location and until now, we’ve largely ignored Downtown Disney District! But that all changes today. I’ve finally documented some of my favorites from this fun area adjacent to Disneyland and California Adventure and there is plenty to eat and drink.
A few tips before we get started…
Dining Availability
Even though Mobile Ordering isn’t available for Downtown Disney on the app, you CAN make dining reservations and in fact, I would recommend them for busy days! Simply “Check Dining Availability,” enter your party size and date and time of day to reserve. Alternately, if you want to check on a specific restaurant, click the location pin in the bottom menu of the app, filter on “Dining” and “Downtown Disney District” then click on the restaurant and “Reserve Dining.” The app is also helpful for finding restaurants and browsing menus.
DON’T FORGET Legacy AP DISCOUNTS
If you were a Disneyland Annual Passholder, don’t forget to ask if there is a Legacy AP Discount! Legacy AP’s receive 5-15% discounts at many Downtown Disney restaurants. Some kiosks and spots don’t offer, but it’s always best to ask!
Best Things to Eat and Drink at Downtown Disney DIstrict
Ok let’s get down to the nitty gritty! Here are some of our favorite bites and brews from Downtown Disney…
Brews and Pub Snacks from Ballast Point® Brewing Co.
Enjoy award-winning beer and sensational Southern California cuisine on the rooftop patio of this family-friendly brewery. There is a list of brews (and wines too) to choose from to suit your fancy. I enjoy the Wahoo White, a Belgian-style Witbier with Coriander and Orange Peel. It’s refreshing and citrusy! Pair it with your favorite pub-style snack like Parmesan Fries or pretzel bites.
Crazyshake from Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes
Indulge in burgers, milkshakes and other delish dishes at this throwback-style eatery! I know you’ve seen their Crazyshakes on Instagram and I am a huge fan. Even if you can’t stop in, stop by their Crazy Shake Window and order an ice cream treat to go!
Sweet Treats from Marceline’s Confectionery
Sweet dreams come true at this old-fashioned candy shop named after the small Missouri town where Walt lived as a boy. If you love visiting Candy Palace, Pooh Corner or Trolley Treats in the parks, you’re going to want to stop by Marceline’s! Many times you’ll find the same treats, caramel apples, Mickey crispy treats, churro toffee and more that you’d find in the parks! It’s a great stop to snag some souvenirs or treats for friends and family back home.
Pizza from Naples Ristorante e Bar
Celebrate the charm, cuisine and spirit of southern Italy at this classic Neapolitan eatery. I love stopping at Naples for a good wood-fired pizza! My favorite is pepperoni and roasted red peppers. They also have some tasty sangria! And you can’t beat their patio for sitting and chatting with friends.
Beignets from Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen
From Louisiana to you: delicious fresh seafood, flavorful ingredients and a proud family tradition of southern hospitality. Whether you choose to sit down and dine on jambalaya or run through the Jazz Express for a paper bag of warm beignets covered in powdered sugar, one thing is for sure: Ralph Brennan’s is a must-stop in Downtown Disney! My favorite is to start our day there with sweet pastries and a hot cup of coffee to go.
Ice Cream from Salt & Straw
Discover taste-provoking ice cream at this family-run scoop shop! Stop by for handmade, small-batch, seasonal flavors created with local ingredients in collaboration with artisans, chefs and farmers. It’s always delicious and refreshing!
Cold Foam from Starbucks
Cozy up to your cup as you discover tempting aromas and explore a world of flavors in this modern rustic setting—that even includes an innovative Clover Bar featuring exotic, rare Starbucks Reserve coffees, each brewed to order! Where is my FOAMILY at? There’s nothing like a Disney Parks Starbucks (most notably a cold foam) and while there are two shops in Downtown Disney, I love the central location with the large light up map! Tip: mobile order is your friend at these always-busy locations!
Breakfast Burrito or Nachos from Taqueria at Tortilla Jo’s
Savor authentic south-of-the-border specialties in a vibrant setting in the heart of the Downtown Disney District. Y’all, I love to stop at the Taqueria. In full disclosure, I’m usually running through Downtown Disney so the quick eats are my fave but if you have time, Tortilla Jo’s is so yummy too! If you’re at the Taqueria for breakfast, get the breakfast burrito! If you’re there for lunch or dinner you can’t go wrong with a huge helping of nachos!
Soft Pretzel from Wetzel’s Pretzels
Sink your teeth into a plethora of fresh-baked pretzels in flavors like Jalapeno Cheese Melt and Sinful Cinnamon—or add tasty dips, Cheesy Dog Bites and Pizza Bitz for the ultimate pretzel party! Thirsty? Fresh-squeezed and frozen lemonade are also available as an added treat. Wetzel’s Pretzels are my FAVE! I always stop when I’m here. There’s nothing like a warm, buttery and salty pretzel at Disney.
What do you think? Did I miss anything? What are your favorite Downtown Disney spots?
