Hi friends! We’re going simple for the holidays this year. Let’s be honest, things are really busy – they feel even more hectic this year than usual and there is just a good portion of time where you want to spend with family, right? We have our tree up and sparkling, simple chocolate advent calendars, a Christmas card display and now – a beautiful DIY Pallet Wood Centerpiece Box!
My friends over at 3MDIY.com sent me an amazing assortment of their DIY and safety products! With all these goodies, who wouldn’t want to get to DIY-ing?!
I think my favorite (or really my husband’s favorite) items were the safety gear! In full confession, I always do projects so quickly and I don’t always have the appropriate gear on hand – and it drives my husband batty! But now I have no excuse, I have everything I need from 3M tekk protection: Holmes Workwear™ Premium Safety Eyewear, Digital WorkTunes™ Hearing Protector, and a Sanding and Fiberglass Valved Respirator! Just imagine how I look in all that goodness…or don’t imagine, let me show you a quick DIY selfie!
So glamorous, right? But honestly I felt much more comfortable taking on our centerpiece box project. So let’s talk about that a bit now!
What you’ll need:
- 3M™ Safety Products
- Wood pallet
- Circular saw
- Hammer/nails
- Nail gun (optional)
- Wood glue
And the steps:
- Using a circular saw, cut two pieces of pallet wood planks to approximately 30 inches each.
- Remove top and bottom planks from 2×4 pallet anchor and cut 2×4 to a 30 inch length as well.
- Lastly, cut two more pieces from another 2×4 from the pallet for your end pieces, the appropriate height to reach the top of the box.
- One at a time, glue the pallet planks to the sides of the bottom 2×4, anchoring with a hammer and nails or a nail gun.
- One at a time, glue the end 2×4 pieces and again secure with hammer and nails or a nail gun.
And those are the basics, folks! Really not a complex project but I’m in love with the result! For this holiday season, I’ve filled our centerpiece box with Christmas garland and sparkly birch candles…
I’m keeping the box raw and rustic for this time around, but I am also loaded up on some great 3M Advanced Abrasives if I want to do a little sanding and staining! What do you think? Would you keep it as is or stain it? Either way, this holiday season make sure you gear up with 3M DIY products and get to DIY-ing something amazing!
