Hi friends! As winter comes to an end, it is time to get your car ready for spring driving! Do you have any road trips planned? I know we just headed to Disney for spring break and we have a few other trips up our sleeve. With those in mind and the fact that it’s National Car Care Month, we’re reminded to take care of any issues that may have occurred or been ignored during winter and get our car into tip top shape for road trip season! With that we’ve partnered with Goodyear Auto Service to share 10 Ways to Prepare for a Road Trip!

1. Check Your Spare Tire. First you want to be sure you have a spare tire in case of any issues on your road trip, but what many folks don’t think to do is to check your spare tire before you head out on your trip and be sure that it’s aired up and ready to go.

2. Pack a Jack and Wrench. If you have a spare tire, be sure to also pack a jack and wrench! That way if you find yourself in need of your spare you know that you’re prepared to make the switch.

3. Pack a Flashlight. My dad is a professional driver so many of my road trip tips come from his many years on the road. He suggests having two flashlights on hand, one with batteries and one that can plug into the car that way you’re covered no matter what.

4. Pack Flares or Reflectors. Pulling over on the side of the road during a road trip can be hazardous in and of itself. Help to guarantee your safety and that others can see you especially at night with flares or triangle reflectors.

5. Pack a First Aid Kit. It’s always a good idea when heading out on a road trip to have a first aid kit on hand for any bumps and bruises you may encounter on the way. Save yourself a detour to the convenience store and pack those essentials with you.

6. Get a Detail. Everyone likes traveling in style, so for a little added comfort get your car in for a good detail and cleaning before you go! Your car and your company will thank you.

7. Pack Water and Food. For as long as I can remember my father urged me to always pack water for road trips. This is not only for those you are transporting but also for a car that is overheating as well. Food is also important just in case you find yourself in a spot where you need it.

8. Gas Up! Be sure you gas up before you head out on any trip. Another great tip I got from my father as well is that when you’re on the road trip make sure you never get below a fourth of a tank. Especially on longer road trips you want to be sure you never find yourself in a situation where you’re running out of gas and desperately searching for a gas station in an unknown area.

9. Pack up the Fun! Especially if you have little ones with you on your road trip, be sure to pack plenty of fun! Whether this is fun activity trays, books, games and/or videos, plan some fun for your time on the road.
